Sonic Generations
Incredibly it’s been 20 years since the first Sega Sonic the Hedgehog game. To celebrate that, Sega has taken the most memorable stages from the game through the years into this dizzyingly fast platform game.
First off, on the Xbox360 the graphics are wonderful and wonderfully bizarre including moments of being chased by a giant fish that dives and crashes away the pathway.
It is a 2D game that alternates with 3D madness at different stages. It can be so fast that it’s almost impossible to avoid devilishly laid out baddies. It will take you many tries and good memory work to remember where the bad guys are without crashing into them.
In 3D view the gameplay can be so fast with so many things going on that the framerate can stutter. This minor annoyance is offset by the cute characters and sheer fun gameplay of a superfast hedgehog speeding through a fantasy landscape. This one of those few games that kids (and adults) of all ages will pick up immediately from the get go.
